Why Gatherings Matter More than Ever
Hey Hosting Queen,
We've all heard it. We've probably even said it ourselves. And it rings true every time.
"We should do this more often."
The sad and simple truth is that we're busier than ever, more "connected" than ever, yet so many people feel lonely, like they're running on the hamster wheel of life and forgetting to make time for what matters.
Earlier this year, I moved from my four-bedroom home with the humongous backyard into a small one-bedroom apartment in a quiet adult complex.
But guess what was there…
A firepit!
And a big pile of wood just waiting to be used.
I just love sitting by a fire, so of course I took advantage of it.
And you know what?
People come every time I start a fire.
After every fire, someone always sighs and says:
"This was great! It's so good to get together like this."
Why?
Because connection matters.
Being with other people matters. Feeling seen and heard matters. And people are longing for connection with other people—not just their phones or their TVs.
And you know what?
Some of those campfire conversations have brought people together who wouldn't normally connect. For others, they felt safe enough to share a little more of themselves. And for many, it was simply a chance to be outside with other people instead of feeling isolated and alone inside.
So something as simple as a fire, some chairs and an open invitation can bring people together.
Because gatherings matter more than ever.
Maybe you don't have a firepit. That's okay.
There's always a way to gather—big or small, simple or formal.
Use what you have.
Invite some people.
And just have fun connecting and gathering.
Because sometimes the simplest gatherings become the ones we remember.
