How to Plan a Party Without Losing Your Mind
Hey Hosting Queen,
Have you ever felt so frazzled by all the planning and work that you were too exhausted to even enjoy the party you worked so hard to create?
I sure have — and it’s NOT FUN. 🥴
I’ve said it a million times (and I’ll probably say it a million more):
Lists, lists, and more lists.
I love a good list. I personally prefer pen and paper, so I start by writing down all my ideas. Then I go back and edit the list down to something manageable.
Because let’s be honest — do we really need 36 different homemade appetizers from scratch before dinner?
The very strong answer here is NO.
Set Your Theme
Your theme could be:
• A colour
• A type of food
• An idea or object
• A feeling or mood
If you choose any theme at all, it helps streamline your party planning and removes a lot of extra work.
Pick one theme and keep it simple.
Time
Give yourself more time than you think you’ll need.
• Plan for things to take longer than expected
• Have your meal ready about 30 minutes before you actually need it
• Build in a little buffer for last-minute tasks (like gravy or steaming veggies)
• Take a few pause breaks to sit and breathe before your guests arrive
• Do as much as possible 1–2 days ahead of time
Delegate and Eliminate
You don’t have to do everything yourself.
• Ask for help — even assigning someone to answer the door or pour drinks helps
• Eliminate anything that feels overly complicated or unnecessary
So you see, even though gatherings have a lot of moving parts, you can plan a wonderful party without losing your mind.
And if you'd like a little extra support with your planning, you can always book a 1 Hour Plan Like a Queen session where I’ll help you simplify your plans and keep the whole process stress-free.
