How to Build a Hosting Routine for Stress-Free Party Planning
Hey Hosting Queen,
How to Build a Hosting Routine
I bet you’re wondering what in the world a hosting routine is.
Well, that’s easy.
A hosting routine is the framework you use every time you host a gathering.
It’s like the 3 P’s to a Pretty and Polished Party—one of the systems I teach—that helps you stop reinventing the wheel every single time you plan an event.
When you do something more than once, you need a system, a framework, or a routine (call it what you like). Something that removes decision fatigue and keeps you grounded. Before you build a routine, it helps to simplify your planning process so you’re not overwhelmed from the start.
It saves time, mental energy, and capacity—and makes hosting feel a whole lot easier. That extra energy can then go into the fun parts, like your theme or menu, instead of the logistics.
Here’s my basic hosting routine (feel free to steal it):
Decide on your vibe, theme, date, and guest list (and send invitations)
Book any vendors or outside help (caterer, florist, etc.)
Plan a simple, complementary menu
Make your lists, lists, and more lists
Gather everything together (dishes, decor, napkins—everything you’ll need)
Shop 2–3 days before and clean your home around the same time
Prep as much as possible the day before
Set up most things the morning of your party
Nourish yourself—drink water, eat, rest, get dressed, do your makeup if you want
Then: party time!
If you want a detailed done-for-you timeline and checklist (the exact one I use every time), you can grab my Ultimate Party Planning Checklist. It’s my gift to you.
When you have a hosting routine in place, it makes hosting—big or small—so much easier.
Because hosting really is: Less Stress and More Magic ✨
