Why Food is So Meaningful to Me: A Personal Story of Cooking, Family & Garden-Inspired Meals
Hey Hosting Queen,
I love food.
Looking at it.
Smelling it.
From-scratch cooking.
And of course, eating great food too.
I was thinking recently about where my love of food actually came from.
Both of my grandmothers were wonderful home cooks, but I honestly think it started when I was about seven years old with my Great Aunt Irene—a renowned gardener.
I remember as a child running through her garden pathways, surrounded by the scent of award-winning flowers, hearing the birds and bees moving through everything so peacefully.
And then it would be dinner time.
She made the most incredible food straight from her garden—new baby potatoes topped with fresh dill picked just hours earlier, salads with the juiciest tomatoes and the crunchiest cucumbers, and a made-from-scratch pound cake served with honey from my uncle’s bees and fresh-picked strawberries.
It was also there that I first tried sour gooseberries… and somehow loved them.
Her food, and the freshness of everything she grew and served, is what started my lifelong relationship with food.
As my cooking skills developed, and later as I went through several health challenges where food quite literally became medicine, that early exposure to fresh, beautiful ingredients shaped the way I cook today.
I love creating food that doesn’t just taste good—but is also nourishing and made with intention.
Did you know that my full-service party planning packages sometimes include the option to experience my food? This is offered on a case-by-case basis.
I'd love to help you plan your next gathering and bring your menu to life in a way that feels both beautiful and meaningful.
Less Stress, More Magic ~ Always
With Love,
Krista
